Tasting - Omo Ze Bel

Name: Omo Ze Bel
Variety: Merlot
Region: Sicily
Country: Italy
Year: N/A
Price: $6.95
Winery Review: This bright, soft Merlot comes from a hilly vineyard on the Alcesti family estate in beautiful Sicily. It has hints of red cherries and freshly cut hay. Exceptional Value.
Personal Review: On the nose, this wine smelled like blackberries, cranberries, dark cherries, plums, grassy, and peppery. However, the taste was quite disappointing, with a very boring beginning and a mildly spicy mid-plate that was very tannic and a little rubber-flavored. The wine left an earthy aftertaste in my mouth. This wine was quite one-dimensional and it was difficult to detect any specific fruits in the wine, other than Merlot grapes. I did not have this wine with any food.
